Established in 1998

Indonesian Student Association in Enschede (PPIE) is an organization for Indonesian students in Enschede, The Netherlands. Officially founded in 12 December 1998, it was aimed to be a place where students can socialize while developing themselves. Formally, PPIE is a part of bigger associations, such as Indonesian Student Associations throughout the Netherlands (PPI Belanda) and Unite (association of the whole university student organizations in Enschede). Each year, on average there are 120 Indonesian students who enrolls in Enschede and is an active member of PPIE. Additionally, about 60 people study at the University of Twente.

Each year, PPIE holds two major events, namely the “Indonesian Evening” and “Indonesian Food Festival”. Both events aim to introduce Indonesian culture and arts, including music, dance, and traditional food, to the Dutch and international students. On this occasion Indonesian students can demonstrate the ability and the existence of Indonesia in front of the international citizens.
